Andy Smith

Andrew (Andy) Smith welcomes the opportunity to be a mentor, a leader, and a fellow traveler. Upon his graduation from the Naval Academy in 1991, he served aboard a guided-missile destroyer while beginning a career in pastoral care and social work. Over the following three decades, Andy taught in middle schools and colleges, served diverse populations in cities and suburbs, and offered leadership and life coaching in arenas and addiction centers.

Since 2015, Andy has served as the lead pastor of Christway Church in Terre Haute, Indiana, while also serving as a chaplain and mentor for the Next Step Foundation, a residential addiction treatment facility in Terre Haute. His experience in mental health, administration, leadership, and personal growth benefits his connections in both of these roles.

Andy is a licensed addiction counselor, holds a master’s degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland, and is pursuing a doctorate in spiritual formation from Friends University. His hobbies include cycling, sailing, a relaxed round of golf, turning a piece of wood, and BBQ.
